Women in Art Exhibition

My most recent mixed media piece that I have created is called, “Wonder Full.” It is part of the Women in Art Show going on at the Kariton Art Gallery and Open Space.

With growing social and political polarity negatively impacting our world, it can lead to a bleak view on the current state of humanity. I created this work as a way to access a sense of centredness and positivity during difficult times; it is a visual touchstone to remember our connection to each other, the Earth, and the universe. We are part of something powerful and amazing—it’s something to really think about—to find wonder in. Within each section of this “Wonder Woman’s” hair, there is a question related to wonder–from “What is the purpose of life?” to “What stars am I made of?”

There is power in wonder. Keep dreaming, keep hoping, keeping wondering. Wondering leads to asking questions, speaking up, and taking action. As Michelle Obama said, “Don’t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility. Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn’t.” Remember to wonder, dream of a better world, and then work to make it happen. Everyone has the power to wonder.
